Glass half

Mum brought her kazoo to Zoom.
She dragged her bed into the garden
to hear the blackbirds in the morning:
cooked a trout on a fire,
fished from the bottom of the freezer.
Kept her distance.
Tripped over a riddle
and told us it was nothing
even though her wrist was broken.
Wrote a letter to my uncle
so his dying wasn’t sterile,
made a rainbow out of gingham.
She stopped buying butter.
