The situation is not good

The situation is not good.

In small towns, the dictators

are polishing their medals.

Wild dogs run in the streets;

among children, the rumours

of war are spreading.

And what do we have –

we who are still gazing

at our distant objective?

We have our hearts,

the capacity to love

and to be comrades.

We, who so nearly lost heart.
